Corey H. Surett, served as the Director of the U. S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division, Massachusetts District Office, from 1974 until his retirement in December 2005.
As District Director, Mr. Surett supervised the field agents’ investigations and enforcement of the minimum wage, overtime, record keeping, child labor and the salary exemption provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, also known as the federal wage and hour law. In addition, Mr. Surett’s responsibilities included enforcing the provisions of the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Polygraph Protection Act, and over thirty-six (36) related federal labor statutes as they applied to employers throughout Massachusetts and the United States.
Mr. Surett received his B.A. degree from Rutgers University in 1962 and his Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School in 1971. Mr. Surett is admitted to practice in all the courts of Massachusetts as well as the U.S. District, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States. |
